What is it?
PICT is a graphics file format introduced by Apple on the original Macintosh in 1984 as its standard metafile format. It allows the interchange of both vector and bitmap graphics, along with limited text, between Classic Mac OS applications.
A PICT file is essentially a recorded sequence of QuickDraw drawing operations, the graphics system underlying Classic Mac OS. As a standalone file it typically begins with a 512-byte header (often all zeros) followed by the picture data.
