About This Tool

This converter changes the letter casing of text between common forms: uppercase, lowercase, title case, sentence case, and often camelCase or snake_case. Each form suits a different context, from headings that want title case to code identifiers that need camelCase or snake_case.

Doing this by retyping is slow and error prone, especially for long passages or lists. The tool applies the casing rule uniformly, and for title and sentence case it handles the small words and sentence boundaries so the result reads correctly rather than mechanically capitalising every word.

Title case is more nuanced than capitalising every word: established style guides lowercase short conjunctions, articles, and prepositions unless they begin the title. Sentence case, by contrast, capitalises only the first word and proper nouns, which is increasingly preferred for headings because it reads more naturally. Handling these rules automatically is what separates a real case converter from a blunt capitalise-each-word transformation. Title case is the subtle one, because established style guides lowercase short articles, conjunctions, and prepositions unless they open the title, so a good converter follows those rules rather than blindly capitalising every word.
