About FileFormer

FileFormer helps people convert, compress, and prepare files through a browser-accessible web toolkit for practical file workflows. Processing details vary by workflow.

What Is FileFormer?

FileFormer groups common file tasks into practical workflows: PDF preparation, image conversion and compression, audio/video conversion, document/archive compatibility, presentation, ebook and font tools, developer/text/data helpers, site utilities, calculator/everyday utility helpers including simple randomization, learning resources, and productivity helpers.

FileFormer runs entirely in your browser. Every tool processes files locally on your device, so nothing is uploaded to any server, regardless of the file size, format, or workload.

How Does FileFormer Work?

Tools run in your browser by default. Processing happens locally on your device, so your files stay with you. A few formats a browser cannot handle offer optional server processing that you choose yourself.

Browser-Side Processing

Every tool runs in your browser using JavaScript, WebAssembly, or page-loaded libraries. There is no server step: your files are processed locally and never uploaded. Check the specific tool page and processing explainer for workflow details.

Your Files Stay on Your Device

FileFormer processes files in your browser by default, so your files stay on your device. Formats that browsers cannot handle offer optional server processing; those files are sent over an encrypted connection and deleted after conversion.

Technology Behind the Platform

We use industry-standard open-source tools and modern infrastructure to deliver reliable, fast file processing.

Infrastructure

Our backend runs on Go with the Gin framework, backed by PostgreSQL 15 and Redis for caching - handling routing, format catalogs, and tool delivery. All file processing runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly, so your files are never uploaded. The website is hosted with EU-based infrastructure.

Processing Tools

The site uses web technologies and workflow-specific processing paths for file preparation, conversion, compression, and utility tasks.

Frontend & Browser Tools

The frontend is built with our custom Kalenuxer framework supporting 9 languages with server-side rendering. The conversion tools use vanilla JavaScript and WebAssembly for maximum performance without framework overhead. Image processing in the browser uses Canvas API and Web Workers for non-blocking operation.
