How the Cropper Works

Trim exactly the margin you want, on every side or one at a time.

Trim Controls

Even or Per-Side

Enter one value to trim all sides equally, or give the top, right, bottom, and left their own amounts.

Your Units

Type margins in millimetres, inches, or points, whichever matches how you measure your pages.

Applied to Every Page

The same trim is set across the whole document in one pass, so a long PDF is cropped consistently.

Output

Lossless Crop

Only the visible crop box changes, so text and images are never re-rendered and quality is untouched.

Reversible

Because content is hidden rather than deleted, a crop can be widened again in a PDF editor later.

Browser-Side

Cropping runs on your device with pdf-lib, so the file is never uploaded to a server.

Trimming PDF Margins

  1. Open your PDF

Drop the file in or click to browse. The tool reads the first page size and shows it, so you know how much room you have to trim before anything is cut.

  2. Set how much to cut

Type one value in All sides to trim evenly, or set the top, right, bottom, and left amounts separately. Choose millimetres, inches, or points to match how you measure.

  3. Crop and download

Press Crop PDF. The visible area of every page shrinks by the amounts you set, and the trimmed file is offered for download. Your original stays as it was.

How Cropping Works Here

This tool changes each page's crop box, the rectangle a viewer shows and a printer uses, rather than deleting anything from the page. That keeps the operation instant and lossless, and it means a crop can be widened again later because the trimmed content still exists behind the new edge.

SettingWhat it does
All sidesFills the four side boxes with one value for an even trim
Top, right, bottom, leftTrims each edge by its own amount for an uneven crop
UnitsReads your numbers as millimetres, inches, or points
Every pageThe same margins are applied across the whole document
Safety checkA page is skipped if the trim would leave almost nothing, so the file stays valid

When Trimming Margins Helps

Tidy scanned edges

Scans often carry a grey border or a black scanner edge. Trim a few millimetres off each side to leave a clean page.

Fit an e-reader

Cutting wide print margins makes the text fill more of a tablet or e-reader screen, so it is larger and easier to read.

Remove a header or footer

Trim from the top or bottom to drop a running header, a footer, or a page number that you do not want to keep.

Prepare for print

Bring a document to a tighter margin before printing or placing it into another layout, without redrawing the pages.
